Entrusted, believed in, forgiven, and wished forβembracing the feelings of Emilia and the others, Subaru decides to be the “Natsuki Subaru” his friends think he is. The moment he wakes up from his Return by Death, the very first thing he does is confess to having amnesia. He vows to regain his own memories, restore Rem’s, and bring everyone home safely. After winning Ram over with his determination, they head toward the spiral staircase inside the towerβwhere he had twice been pushed to his death.

Subaru and his allies barely win the brutal battle in the Watergate City of Pristella, but at a high price. Rem remains in an endless sleep due to the Authority of Gluttony, Crusch’s memories are still missing, and Julius has lost his very name.
In the midst of searching for a solution, Subaru learns of the all-knowing Sage Shaula. They set their sights on the Pleiades Watchtower, where the Sage resides. The lone tower stands at the edge of the vast Augria Sand Dunes, a deadly desert even the strongest Sword Saint, Reinhard, could not conquer.
Fierce terrain, unknown witchbeasts, and unimaginable threats stand in their path. Together with his companions, Subaru begins another perilous journey, staking his life to reclaim everything taken from him.

One thing I found strange in this episode is that when Subaru asked Meili not to follow the methods of Elsa, he rubbed his stomach – this probably refers to the time he met Elsa in the first Arc, and was cut in the stomach. Not sure if he did it unconsciously or some form of memories are coming back to him. I also have to assume that the whole group spent a lot of time updating Subaru on the progress so far because it's quite impressive he knows about the books and stuff and can come up with a plan so soon too.
On another note, Subaru really brings out the best in everyone he is with.
Also, I don't usually do comparisons since everyone has their preference, but the way Re:zero and Demon Slayer does backstories is really worlds apart. DS just gives you some sob story to make you feel sorry for the characters, but Re:zero actually makes you want to root for them.
