For people who don't understand how his Rearguard works, here's a simple rundown.
He makes the girls feel funny when they receive his support. And he knows this. He's being dense not because he's dense; it's because he wants to avoid trouble. Even the support lady joins his team and gets the same effect as well in the latter chapters.

I will give it some more time to see if it gets any better but hell, what is the problem with these authors… All he did was put a shield and he is regarded as strongest rearguard already?? If this is impressive then what the hell are other rearguards do, smoke while others are fighting?? Also, he is fighting in a 3 piece suit in that warm/hot looking climate, imagine how much sweat and dust gets into it and he is wearing it everyday, not to mention it hindering his movement and reflexes… I understand that anime characters have same clothes but at least make it look comfortable or daily wear based on the place and time… It is irritating me a lot… Not to mention that catapult, it looks so ugly…
