Episode Summary：
Having finally arrived at the long-awaited hot spring town, Krai and his party set out to enjoy the baths. But as Krai soaks in the relaxing waters, he encounters… a dragon, calmly bathing right alongside him! Meanwhile, Arnold and his group, who barely escaped alive from the Castle of a Myriad Demons (Night Palace), also arrive in town. Having personally witnessed the true power of Thousand Tricks, they manage to reconcile with Krai. Yet, Arnold seems to be struggling with something on his own… At the same time, an unsettling shadow begins to move through the town, and Krai is suddenly abducted by a mysterious demi-human.

kinda sad they didn't show the literal mountain of corpses like in the LN. so in the LN, arnold & co went into night palace. while walking, 2 phantom knights materialize in front of them (which normally wouldn't happen in lower level shrines, because phantom are made of mana material, and hunters being nearby usually mean they absorb the mana material necessary for the phantom to manifest) then, they needed arnold to take down the phantom 1 by 1. after a hard fight, they won, but they admit the shrine is a bit too hard.
when considering whether to retreat or not, rudra (the thief girl) suddenly got a feeling, remembering the thousand trials back in white wolf den, where after a hard fight, they relaxed and then super strong enemies appear. so she urge them to go forward and retreat after taking a detour, because she felt that krai must have placed phantoms at the back.
they advanced, and entered a large expansive courtyard. there is a bonfire in the center, remains from Grieving souls's expedition. surrounding it are several mountains of corpses, like literally meters tall, piled up corpses forming a mountain. many of the corpses are like the knight they just fought, and the cause of death all differ. some seem crushed to death, some are frozen, some are burned, some are bisected, etc. arnold and co misunderstood this as Krai's true power, remarking that this is why he got the moniker thousand tricks.
then, from the back, a wave of phantom knights approaches, they are scared and in despair, when Arnold got the idea to hide within the mountain of corpses, allowing them to hide away from the phantoms and escape
